9 Suggestions for Male Tinder photos

It is never easy to take photos of yourself. Especially if you want to publish it. Also, if you're going to use it on Tinder, it can make everything so stressful. Your photos must be both candid and curated.

Let’s get started!

We can group Tinder profile photos into 3.

Group 1: Very good at taking photos
Group 2: Too good at taking photos and setting the bar too high
Group 3: Very bad at taking pictures hence slim chances of getting a match.

The third one is the most common among men. Some mistakes that are made often are starting off with their torso over their face or style, or guys who post pictures in a big group that you have to guess which one of them is the actual profile owner. Some people don't even show their faces which can be understandable but most people will choose based on a portrait.

I have gone through many thoughts and read about "expert" comments. My expert group included bloggers, photographers, and women who Tinder.

  1. No group shots!

As a photographer, I know that 99% of group photos are taken by a mobile phone in a bad light, and the quality is terrible. Also, you will be lost in the crowd, and you are very likely to be swiped left in a millisecond. Your potential match may like another person in the group too! So just avoid them!

  2. Show persona

An ideal profile should show some of your favorite activities. It can be traveling, barista skills, or a sports activity (I am not talking about gym photos in the mirror!). Think about something your future partner will enjoy doing with you. For example, maybe you play an instrument? [Make sure to involve in it, and you will have an excellent chance to get a match with someone also interested in that kind of music. BUT none of these activities should be beyond you. If you are into sports, don't post a photo while you are playing basketball. But maybe a close-up portrait in a pitch before a training. You got the point, right?

  3. Outfit + a nice hairdo

Here I go, simple and easy. Even a newly bought white shirt is great. My suggested tones are modern and urban. Go for white, black, light brown, wooden, and earthy colors. When I edit photos, I make sure to add a sufficient amount of contrast and clarity too. Still, I suggest you do it very carefully. Make sure you have a fabulous haircut (or a fresh buzz if bald). Fix your beard, or shave fully. You need to be there to impress.

  4. Theme | Background

Play simple. No details, no busy patterns. Simple color or bokeh will do the work. Remember, it is your photo, not a street photographer's blog. Having said that, if you are indeed a street photographer, show it 🙂

  5. Update your photos

Don't use old photos. We all have one image that we happen to love from 5 years ago. But it is time to say goodbye to it for a new one. Reflect on your current look, don't cheat or mislead. It will cost you losing on your first date.

  6. Quality photos

Good quality photos will look MUCH BETTER and increase your chances of getting your perfect match. You have a few seconds to impress, and a quality photo will make women spend an extra second on your profile. The more time they spend on your profile, the more chances you have.

  7. No women and no children in your photos

The reason is simple. Don't make your viewers think even for a moment if they are your ex, daughter, mother, or children. Don't leave room for disclosures. And probably your photo with your mom won't be too attractive.

  8. Self-confidence

The fastest way to appear self-confident is to smile and have good posture. You don't have to be the hottest guy in the app, but you should definitely be optimistic and self-confident. That will open many doors and get many more swipes. Guaranteed.

  9. Shot list

Here is another point that some professional help may be suitable. You need to have a list of shots that work the best for you; portraits from the waist up, close-up portraits with good use of light, and a variety of photos with eye contact and no eye contact.

So you have your list. I hope you find it helpful.

Do you think getting this done can be easier with a professional photographer (and a consultant)? In that case, I am happy to help you get there and find your dream partner online!
