Tips for Best Tinder Profile Photos for Men - Women
What makes a good Tinder profile? I wanted to share some thoughts on how to improve your profile pictures and talk about good dating profile examples.
Given the fact that Tinder has one of the most lopsided gender ratios, it is the most popular dating app, and you must have good profile photos on it.
Although I mentioned that high quality makes a huge difference in my other blog posts, you don't have to have all your photos taken with a professional camera. For those who are short of time or budget to order a photoshoot, I want to give some tips on creating a good profile on Tinder.
LIGHT
To get more right-swipeable photos, you need to make sure your images are well lit and flattering, showing your face or body and your style, hobbies, activities, and humor.
PHOTO COUNT
Ideally, you need to have 4-6 photos for a good dating profile. Most guys struggle to get this number of pictures, so I suggest working on a mood board to find out what kind of content you should create. Yes, you can have nine photos, but 4-6 shots are ideal as "you are as good as your worst looking photo." So it is not worth taking the risk and keeping the number of photos fewer. However, 1-2 images aren't usually enough, and you will probably get fewer likes. Not all pictures of these 4-6 pictures should be your smile, close-up portrait, or even a studio photoshoot. You should also work on different, but matching, backgrounds, poses, and angles.
FIRST PHOTO
Of course, your best photo should be the first photo, and it would help avoid sunglasses, shirtless photos, hats, bandanas, and group photos.
Your photo should be clear, effortless, and genuine. The first photo is your welcome look, and it can be a full-body photo, too; however, I recommend 1/4 or 1/2 body photos.
As for the location, you need to find out where you feel the most relaxed. Some people feel very stressed about their photos taken at a cafe, for instance, Some other people find it more comfortable. If your comfortable place is a beach, go for it. Is that nature? A hiking photo will be great (but still a portrait). If you find a library the best place to reflect your persona and hobbies, it is your place for the photo. With Instagram, nature and explorer pictures became more popular and approachable. Travel photos are great; avoid cliches—Eiffel Tower, Pisa, Walt Disney, etc.
GROUP PHOTOS
No. No. And no.
That can be a fantastic photo that can mean a lot to you, but Tinder is not a platform for that. It is all about you, so keep your favorite group photos on Facebook. Another danger with group photos is that someone in the picture may be more attractive to your profile visitor, and you don't want that.
FORMAL | SUITS
Yes. Most of us look better when we dress up. For guys, it looks clean and tidy. You will probably have a trimmed beard / clean shave when you dress up for an event, so that's another bonus point. Make sure your outfit fits you well, though. Some suits and dresses can look too big or small on you, making the opposite effect.
SHOWING SKIN
It is a gray zone of which you need to be careful.
A carefully and tastefully taken photo on the beach showing a little extra skin can positively contribute. Also, feel free to show your muscle definition aesthetically.
Photos in the water, swimming pool, or swimsuit may look too narcissistic or douchey. Avoid that. If you want to post a photo from the beach or pool, consider having a tank top or a fitting shirt instead of showing too much.
Avoid selfies, neck-down photos, abs flexing, and sunglasses.
CLOSE-UPS
Statistics say close-up photos make a stronger bond with people. Avoid CV-style photos, significantly photoshopped images, and staged poses. A good photographer can help you with the poses without making them produced.
There are two more essential points to consider. First, all your photos should be similar to each other.
If your close-up portrait looks too perfect and the others do not, there are fewer swipes. Secondly, always assume you might be checked on Linkedin and Facebook, too, So make sure your photos on those platforms are equally good.
RESTAURANTS
Yes. Your favorite dish with your smile is a nice frame, and it shouldn't be while you are about to bite a giant burger. The purpose here is to show your favorite place and style, and this kind of image can also help start a conversation. However, avoid cliche places.
EMBARRASSING MOMENTS
Yes. Especially guys love these photos as women look more self-confident and comfortable in such photos than too perfect selfies with a make-up ring light. Having an image that people laugh at can be a good reason to be swiped right.
SMILE! SMILE! SMILE!
The most common feedback from women about men's photos is that men look nervous, angry, too severe, and constipated in photos.
It would be best to look approachable, friendly, confident, and fun. The smile on your face should be genuine. Don't show the back of your mouth :)
Golden Rules to remember
You are only as attractive as your worst photo
People judge on the first photo
Show your persona
